Senior Vice President, General Counsel
Mareilé Cusack is the senior vice president and general counsel of Ariel Investments. In this capacity, Mareilé advises Ariel’s senior leadership, external Mutual Fund Board of Trustees and external Company Board of Directors on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters regarding the investment adviser, investment company, broker-dealers, securities compliance, corporate and labor and employment issues. She also serves as board secretary for the investment adviser, broker-dealer and Ariel Investment Trusts and oversees fund administration. Mareilé joined Ariel in 2007, bringing more than two decades of legal experience to the firm. Most recently, she worked at the Chicago Stock Exchange, where she held the positions of associate general counsel and chief enforcement counsel. She also served as the chief legal counsel for the Illinois Gaming Board, served as an attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission and started her legal career as a corporate/securities attorney at a Chicago-based law firm. Outside of Ariel, Mareilé serves on the boards for The Smart Museum and the Lincoln Park Zoo. She graduated with a BA in European history and economics from the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her Juris Doctorate degree from the University Of Virginia School Of Law.
